Intimate Landscape
Project Year
2025
Location
Rueil Malmaison - France
The garden is conceived as a contemporary poolside landscape, where architecture, water, and vegetation are closely intertwined. A large wooden deck structures the space, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor living and establishing the pool area as the heart of the garden. The deck’s warm tones contrast subtly with the cool blue of the water, reinforcing a calm, resort-like atmosphere.
A minimalist pergola with linear slats frames the seating area and filters light throughout the day, casting moving shadows that animate the space. Beneath it, generous, light-colored lounge furniture creates an open-air living room, designed for both relaxation and social moments. The pergola acts as a transitional element, mediating between the built environment and the planted garden beyond.
The pool is deliberately simple in its geometry, functioning as a reflective surface that visually enlarges the space and draws the eye toward the depth of the garden. Surrounding it, planting is composed in layered masses: palms and small trees provide vertical structure, while shrubs and groundcover soften the edges and introduce texture. The vegetation creates privacy without enclosure, allowing views to remain open while establishing a lush, intimate atmosphere.
Overall, the garden plays on a dialogue between clean lines and organic forms, between openness and enclosure, light and shade. It is a space designed for slow movement, lingering, and shared moments, where the landscape becomes an extension of daily life rather than a backdrop.
